Luther Vaughan is a 32 year old tenor opera singer originally from Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire. He moved to Cardiff in 2005 to study a post graduate diploma at the Royal Welsh College of music and drama, where he won a full Sir Geraint Evans Scholarship.
Since 2009 he has been taught by World renowned soprano Rebecca Evans which has helped develop Luthers voice further.
Luther is also extremely privileged to be mentored and coached by the world renowned baritone Simon Kennlyside, who makes time to help him even during his hectic operatic and solo career. He’s learnt a great deal from his mentor especially when interpreting music in which Mr Kennlyside is a master of his field.
On the operatic stage his repertoire includes:Bedrich Smetana, Bartered Bride, RWCMDBenjamin Britain, Peter Grimes, RWCMDOffenbach-Robinson CrusoeTrouble in Tahiti , RWCMDGilbert and Sullivain, Mikado, RWCMDOffenbach, Die FleidermausGilbert and Sullivan Pirates of Penzance Gilbert and Sullivan, The GondoliersMeistersinger with Welsh National Opera (April 2010)
He has performed in a number of concert halls as a soloist for various choirs such as; The London Welsh, Pontrardawe and Pontardulais and was also the reserve for the finals of the prestigious young Welsh Singers Competition.
